Dc1 had mild speech delay and is being investigated for asbergers. Dc2 had severe speech delay and is diagnosed with autism. Now dc3 is showing quite a moderate speech delay. I'm scared people will think it's my fault.

What people? Are they important people?

That sounds like a horrendous workload. Do you have RL support?

Smartiepants79 · 15/10/2013 20:36

Nothing you have done or not done can 'make' your child autistic.
This is not your fault.
Stay strong.

Just neighbours, people at school gate, hcp. I do have lots of rl support thank you. I know it's not my fault and I shouldn't let others bother me but it does. How do I grow a thicker skin?

Totally know that feeling, and still have it, to an extent. It's horrible. But your confidence will grow as you meet their needs. You have a lot on your plate. Thanks

What do you care about most?

That 'others' think you are a great mother or that your children think you are a great mother?

Sometimes, with The ignorance surrounding SN, you can't achieve both and trying to will mean you do both badly.

Choose your priority and hold your head high.

Having three children with special needs must be impossible I have two with special needs and it's hard enough

Chottie · 18/10/2013 21:41

Please ignore all those ignorant people and their opinions. Their views count for nothing..... Flowers

SparkleSoiree · 18/10/2013 21:45

Please don't worry about other people. You are obviously a good mum and are doing everything you can to help and support your children. You have relevant experience, 'other people' don't otherwise they wouldn't judge you.

Keep doing what you are doing. Smile
