Hi my ds is delayed in his speech and gross motor skills. But just wondered if you had experience of other signs of cerebral palsy?
Sensory issues etc and what they are?

Its a hard one to answer as CP is such a wide spectrum. Ds2 certainly had other indicators but its difficult to determine which are to do with the Cp as he also has autism.
Often children with CP can either dislike sudden movement or love movement such as rocking etc.
Other things like feeding & sleep problems are common.
It really does depend on the type & severity of the CP.
What about vision, often eye sight can be effected.

My ds dislike cuddles & touch, needed huge amounts of stimulation to get him to respond, was an awful feeder, poor swallow & suck with terrible reflux. As a baby slept constantly & was always exhausted (now he never sleeps)
Repeated chest & ear infections, severe constipation

Thank you for your reply .Goodness lots for you to contend with. The sleep and chest infections ring true for me also but my ds seems to like spinning and making himself dizzy .
I am curious as ds does not have dx yet and so I'm researching but a lot seems to focus on physical signs

My DD has only had physical difficulties but agree it depends on the type and possibly also the area of brain injury (if this is the cause of CP).

She had a dislike of certain loud noises as a baby but appears to have grown out of this. From what I understand, boys with CP can be more susceptible to sensory issues but of course this isn't always the case.

Agree it's mostly the physical signs that are talked about in the info about CP - hope you get some answers soon..
