Portage picnic tomorrow (Plymouth)

Hi,

I just wondered if anyone was attending the Portage Picnic tomorrow in Plymouth?

If anyone is and would like to meet up please let me know.

When and where is it? Can older children go? Probably not, but might take ds1 for 5 minutes if its in the morning.

portage is a charity whch sends out workers to help parents with disabled children to do PECS, TTEACH etc and every year they have a summer picnic

PECS is the system ds1 uses essbee- you might have noticed a board with some symbols in the hall (not that he really uses that board much now,) or I may have been waving his PECS book around. (he may have come up with I want biscuit or something whilst you were visiting.

TEACHH is a teaching method where the child has to do a set of structured activities, beginnings and ends are clearly demarcated, and often the idea is the activity is distraction free. Your ds will be too high functioning for either to be much use in their pure form, but things like visual timetables may still be very useful for him, and they use PECS symbols.

PMSL- you wil have to come during the summer hols- the decking will be done by then (and the roof- that's being done at the moment) so we can sit outside and pretend the inside matches
