Annual Review of Statement

ds1's (10 years, AS) statement was finalised in the summer holidays. We have just had a date through for the annual review in early November so really only after two months of statement. Is this normal to have the review so early?

We are also agonizing over secondary schools - do we continue with BESD school and accept poor academic outcomes or do we try to return to mainstream and risk another cycle of exclusions. Do we stand a chance of arguing that either are inappropriate the BESD academically and the mainstream behaviourally and get him into an out of area specialist school which is really our preferred choice. We have to get the forms back before the annual review so need to make a decision soon.

Additional complication is that ds2 has similar issues and even the specialist school we would like say it would not be ideal to have both.

The annual review will be so early because they must name the school he will be attending by the 15th February for secondary transfer.

They have no choice, even if the statement has only just been drawn up.
