Sports Day and "graduation' for my non-walking DD1

It was fab. Her 1-2-1 teacher held onto her hands and those little legs went like the clappers in every race.
So funny though she refused to run back each time, she'd only go one way! She's no fool my DD!

And then at the end they had a little 'graduation' ceremony for all the kids not coming back in September.
She had on a little motor board hat and when everyone cheered as she stepped out her face lit up and she grinned from ear to ear aas she made her way across waving at all the other mums & das, shook the headmistressses hand and said very clearly 'thnak you'.

Was a very proud and great afternoon.

She must have been promised cake by someone as we took her off in the car to her saying the words 'cake, cake, cake' as she ell asleep. She woke up about 45m ins later and opened her eyes and said 'CAKE". LOL!

Your story reminded me of one of Ds's sports days Thomcat. There was a girl called Sarah who had Down's and was in the year below DS. When she ran her races, all the other children chanted her name and cheared her on. She was absolutely delighted with herself and the other children were so supportive of her.

Mears, that's so what is was like. Feel like crying now thinking of it again. Felt bad on the other kids that ran in her heats as all the mums, dads and other kidsw all were shouting 'yeahhhh Lottie, GOOOOO'! Was so lovely but I felt bad and as well as screaming 'Go on Charlotte'a dn laughihg and jumping up and down, I then went on to madly shout all the other kids names and in my panic to get them all in before I finished I was getting their names wrong, whoops!

It was so funny as when she's really happy she does her happy hands which is hands up by face and the more excited she gets the further the hands go back so they end up over her back by shoulder blades and elbows by her ears. I thought she was going to explode as she was having her hands held to support her with the running so when she sat down she went into happy hands overdrive, LOL

And when Daddy and I did the mums anmd dads race, omg, she was hysterical. I don't know what was funnier - watching DP nearly get the hoop stuck over him or watching Lottie's face!

She didn't get her cake no, but when I took her into school this morning the first thing she said to her special needs teacher was 'cake'.
Funny little thing.

I'll buy her a cake as soon as i get out to get one. She got a Charlie & lola book for doing so well from me but I know to buy cake instead from now on!

If I can find a pic of her in her graduation motor-board I'll post it up.

How utterly fantastic. TC - to think of her in happy-hands overdrive because she ran, after all those months of 'no-oo-o-o-o mummy' when she was learning to stand. It makes my heart burst.
