Saw doc last week to speak about ds's sensory issues which include (amongst many other things) not liking the feel of writing in pencil & being unable to concentrate with background noise/ music at school.
He Advised to speak with school - who advised the Gp needed to refer him to Child Development Services.
Not knowing how long this is likely to take I asked fur a meeting with ds's teacher today
I explained that his having to use pencil meant he rushed work as he can't bear the feel of it.
That during 'big maths' he can't concentrate due to music being played
That he struggles to concentrate whilst other groups of children are reading aloud.
The teacher basically said all she can do is turn the volume down a little.
And that as the children have to earn a 'pen license' it was highly unlikely he'd be able to use one.
Is the likely to be any different response once the Child Development centre are involved?
I also mentioned he was in tears yesterday after being made to use chalk, despite his protests. I was told 'it was just 15 minutes' Confused

Thanks for your reply.
I have 'the out of sync child' - was recommended by someone else on here.
Gp surgery called to ask the name of school so the letter should be with them soon.
This is all totally new to me but from my first contact with the school can understand other parents frustration at the response they get from them
