Change of schhols due to SN

This is probably a bit premature and silly, but its something I have been wondering.

It is highly likelyt hat DS1 won't transfer to Junior School next year, but will go to a 'special school' instead. Now, i an't see they'll put him in the local one as that really caters for kids with much more severe difficulties. I think the best (only?) option is a unit attached to a localish school that specialises in asd, where he can dip in and out of mainstream as best suits him.

My question is this. I have three kids, all of whom will be in school by then. How will I get him there? I can't be in two places at once. Well 3 with Uni. Dh works nights and comes in between 5 and 7 so will be asleep.

you'd probably get transport laid on; ask your education authority

the special school I know of has all the pupils arriving by local authority transport but it's worth checking how things work in your area

Transport. Although I'm going to struggle with ds1's pick up and drop off times next year when ds2 starts school.

I have 2 children at 2 different schools and as both schools are so close cannot get transport.
How weird is it that when we bought this house we had no idea that the language unit that dd attends was actually the nearest school to us (literally 5 minutes away) and ds goes to a school 1 road up.

So have to juggle getting them both to school and dd goes to breakfast club and then is held back for 20 mins until I get there from picking ds up. Never a dull moment.

Have to say PC after dd left ds's school the unit has been great, really ideal for someone like dd who needs small group work but gains so much from the intergration in ms. Obviously we have our ups and downs but then dd and her complex mixture of needs this would happen wherever she went but all in all I am very happy

would it be possible for your other children to go to the mainstream part of the same school?
it takes two of us to do the school run, 8 o'clock for school bus for girls DS is still in his pj's at that time, 8.35 DS off to school, 3.15 pick up DS 4.10 meet girls bus, DS will not come back out the house once he has returned from school, you may get transport unless the lea tell you that a closer school can meet your childs needs.

it all depends on your local authority

when dd started mainstream nursery we were even offered transport even though it was only 10 mins walk away, just cos she had a statement

this school is six miles away. my friend has a child there with a statement and isn't offered transport but she is local. would the difference help?

don't want to move the other boys, DS2 iss ettled and it is a good school just no sn provision. plus my eyesight is boderline and don't want to be car reliant iysim.
