Ds is 2 and has gdd , we are unsure if he will walk but he is getting there with the help of a walker . He is still in his cot but he is heavy and I find it hard to lift him in and out. Can anyone suggest a bed or. Gadget I can use so he doesn't fall out of a bed ? I googled special needs beds and it brought up big hospital cot things . Tia .

Thank you babiki.. 2 is awful.. He is so frustrated with himself and takes it out on me when I don't know what he wants ( fortunately I do most of the time) . I will explore swan and also pushchairs . He is 2 stone at the mo so it isn't an urgent issue .

I don't want to overwhelm you with info, but if you think the frustration is down to not being able to communicate & you're not yet seeing a SALT, the charity Cerebra will give a grant for speech therapy. We did this to get some pointers whilst we waited for the NHS salt.

I totally sympathise-it can be very draining. Especially when everyone says 'just wait & see' or 'boys are lazy' or 'Einstein didn't talk until he was 4'. Or all 3 if you're really lucky!

Yep , I've heard the lot! I feel soo drained at the moment . My dad died recently which hasn't helped.. I do have a speech therapist but she isn't a whole lot of help.

I'm so sorry, just seen your last post. No wonder you feel drained, I'm very sorry for your loss. Be kind to yourself & use these boards for support as & when you feel able. & have a big hug.

Ah thanks , don't worry . I use mumsnet a lot but half of me is too scared to read a lot of the time. I do wonder how long it takes to accept it all.
