I would like to have my dd tested for aspergers. How do I start ?

I'm really worried about my dd, dh and I have been for a long time. Dd is 6 and she is showing some asperger's trait. She has been getting some help to help her with her social skills since the beginning of year 2 but nothing has changed. I have an appointment with dd's support teacher and teacher on tuesday and I already know what they are going to say. She is going to get the same help as before and it's not going to do anything.

I need help to understand, I want to help my dd but I don't know how to.

If they won't refer your gp could . Go along with a list of traits and ask for a referral.

My dd is not highly intelligent and is in fact struggling a lot but she has a lot of other traits..I just want to know how to help her.

Don't go with a preconceived idea of what it may or may not be . Lots of conditions overlap and it may be a particular one which can be focussed on alleviates some of the other issues you describe or they may alter with age. A developmental paed and/or Ed Psych might be a starting point. In some areas multidisciplinary assessments are done under one umbrella.

We made a list of our concerns and took it to the GP, who referred to a paediatrician.
