Hello everyone dd2 started ss on Monday and has become increasingly stressed in the mornings when dp puts her on the bus .She is almost four so is still quite young and although she is verbal she has quite limited communication .school have said she is fine at school .She has autism and I wondered how long it has taken other people's dcs to settle in thanks in advance

I don't have any experience with my own dc and minibuses but I can imagine its the security element that is upsetting her. She's still very young, just started at school so everything is very new and frightening etc. I would keep reassuring her of the routine, ie dp puts her on bus, teacher (?) gets her off, school day, then she gets put back on bus and collected either by you or dp. Out of interest how is she when she is put back on the bus at the end of the day?

I went to school on a minibus from the age of 10 and I remember it being a terrifying experience at the start. I was the youngest, very shy and had to deal with all these older children. And I didn't have added SN complications. She will get there. Grin

Thank you so much for your reply .she is apparently fine at the end of the day it must be the separation aspect in the morning .I have been explaining the routine to her and hopefully she will get used to it .The school have suggested she brings a toy which is lovely of them

My ds goes by taxi and jumps in no problem for the journey there but cries when it's time to get in the taxi to go home Wink.
It's just his way of expressing his anxiety at transitions but my god it doesn't look good does it Grin.
Ps he loves me really lol

could you try taking some photos of the bus and escort if they'll let you and use those to talk about the morning routine? This works really well for dd3 when she's anxious about changes Smile
