Transfer from Year 2 to year 3 - statement hours have been cut

Was wondering if this scenario has happened to anyone else and if so what the outcome was:-

Its just over 4 weeks till the end of term and DS is in year 2. He will go over to the Junior School in September.

Much to my dismay (though not complete surprise because I guessed what they were up to when I last called them) DS's statement hours have been cut from 10 to 7 1/2. Infants school he currently attends are appalled at this decision made by the LEA in question and will write a strong letter to the LEA outlining their concerns at this hours cut.

As I see it I now have three options:-

  1. Appeal the decision which will probably involve tribunal
  2. Ask Juniors to see if they will top up his hours to 10
  3. Self fund the 2 1/2 hours

Have called IPSEA but they are not there till tomorrow.

Can you help/advise me further oh wonderful Mumsnetters?.

my DS had his hours cut from 15 to ten at year two, i wrote a strong letter to the lea, mentioning that saving money now would result in them failing my son and that it was foolish to drop his hours because he was doing well as the main reason he was doing well was because of the support he had, they uped his hours to 12 1/2 then later they dropped to ten and now he gets 7 1/2 he is due to move to year 5 in september i half expect his hours to drop yet again.
