Hi all, as you have probably read on my threads before, my DS age 4, has just been diagnosed with classic autism and we are considering a move to South Oxfordshire (Wallingford) to be exact as my husband is in military and we are trying to locate the best services for my son. Could anyone tell me what the services are like in that area - and would we be making a huge mistake if we went. We are currently in Northern Ireland. Am logging off tonight but will be back tomorrow eve to reply to any messages. Many thanks, Nikki.

I have just read this message , shey again!!
Are you looking for mainstream or Special schools. There is lovely state primary nr Wallingford that is, I believe, very helpful. There is a special school in Abingdon that is very good.

Hi Shey, We are moving to RAF Benson (unless the services are dire) basically we can pick where we go due to DS diagnosis, so we thought Oxfordshire because we have family nearby. DS is in mainstream nursery with 1:1. He is doing really well there. Nikki X - Do you know the name of the school in Wallingford?

As you are a forces family, have you contacted and registered with Service Children's Education at Upavon? They can often answer exactly this sort of question, and support you on every family move. They have a website here at www.sceschools.com, and go to the special needs section (see the menu bar at the top of the homepage).

The mainstream school that was recommended to us was at Long Wittenham. (just outside Wallingford) I will listen out and see whether there are any other suggestions for mainstream primary schools. We are not far from Benson so you must get in touch when you move!
