I just don't understand why they won't.

still not sorted? I remember your posts. our story was similar. have you had the final statement yet? you need to appeal.

if they write in the 1:1 hours they are legally oblidged to deliver them which costs money. it is nothing but a cost saving and delaying tactic.

just appeal.

I've asked twice for them to finalise and they still keep delaying! We are not sending him in September due to it not being sorted and now they are saying they will have to write his statement to match his pre school needs not school, even though the delay is purely down to the fact the statement isnt satisfactory for his needs.

when did you receive the proposed statement. thought they then had 8 weeks to finalised BUT iirc, the summer
break does not count towards the 8 weeks.

have you tried to contact IPSEA or so?

will he start school?

kmummy · 21/08/2013 12:23

We hae a meeting with the head on the 12th to discuss support. My intention was to continue with pre school.

the whole process has to be done within 26 weeks, from your request to final statement. Mind you only about 80% are done on time. I strongly suspect our LA delays even straightforward ones just to save a few extra weeks of money. If you are over 26 weeks put in an online complaint on the council website.

Also tell them you will apply for judicial review if they don't meet the time limits. Time continues to run over the summer holidays with some very limited exceptions, e.g. if the child or parents are away for more than 4 weeks or the parents have said they want to make representations after the initial 15 day period.

DS2 didn't have TA hours written in his SEN ever. This was basically because the LA felt that it was 'too restrictive' on the school.
