Trying to be strong this morning but have come back from the school run and I am ready to burst with despair and anger.

Worried about my mum ( having another op today!)today of all days the school have completed Amelia's In school Review Meeting record sheet and returned a copy to me. Earlier in the week I sent a letter to the LEA requesting Stat.assessment. Sent a copy of this letter into the school asking for a copy of Amelia's school records (which I am legally entited to!)
On the ISR record sheet they have written that they acknowledge my letter but feel unable to support my request at this moment as they are meeting her needs and can see signs of progress.!!!! FFS!!!!!! I have fallen at the first hurdle. Got a meeting with a parenting organisation tomorrow morning and meeting with the SENCO the 3rd July!!!

Sorry ladies,, really need to vent, shout perhaps kick the cat!!LOL!!

Oh this is routine Dingle, they try to put you off at first, dont let them.

You know Amelia and you know if her needs arent being met, you could always do what i did and that was ring around the different depts voicing your concerns until someone listens, i found Parent Partnership very supportive in the early stages dont use them much now, i tend to use IPSEA.

Our SENCO was about as much use as a chocolate fireguard (not saying yours is) but i have discovered in the last few months not to rely on anyone remotely connected with the LEA.

Spent most of the morning trying to ring IPSEA, but again, no luck getting through. Then I tried the DSA. Eventually I managed to speak to Bob Black, and I am feeling a lot more positive. I am not being unreasonable expecting a statement with about 25 hours support.

Downloaded loads of info and printed off so I am going to battle armed!LOL!
Have our PP doing a home visit tomorrow morning and timed very nicely I have just had a response from the LEA re my request for assessment.I can start more form filling!! YIPEE!

I am feeling pretty worked up about this now, I am going out and taking the LEA bull by the horns and gonna give it as good as I can. They may muck me around BUT I will do all I can to fight for what Amelia needs. She deserves and needs this to be able to make mainstream ed. work for her.

God knows how I am going to keep going through all of this, I feel soo drained and exhausted all the time...but I have to find the strength from somewhere!

Dingle,

Re your comment:-

"I am feeling pretty worked up about this now, I am going out and taking the LEA bull by the horns and gonna give it as good as I can. They may muck me around BUT I will do all I can to fight for what Amelia needs. She deserves and needs this to be able to make mainstream ed. work for her".

You are your child's best and only advocate. You can - and will do this for her even if you end up going to Tribunal. BTW most cases that get to that stage are successful for parents.

IPSEA - try evenings around 7.30- 8pm. I got through between those times when I phoned them originally.
