Academies - can someone explain why they are still included in the LA list of provision

According to the BBC www.bbc.co.uk/news/10161371 academies are publicly funded schools which operate outside of local authority control. The government describes them as independent state-funded schools.

I know I'm being a thicko, but why then are academy schools still listed as part of my LA provision? Other independent schools aren't.

Have discovered the reason - apparently admissions are still managed by LAs, so academies still come under their provision.
