Social story about my operation

I'm having an operation next week, and will be recovering afterwards for a couple of weeks. My son (very bright, with aspergers and anxiety) went into meltdown mode about it a couple of days ago, and is obviously in a big internal panic. Difficult to talk to him about it, as this just sets off his cycle of worry... So I'm sitting here this afternoon trying to write a social story for him. Has anybody done one about an operation? I'm aiming to be very factual, use a bit of gentle humour, and above all reassure him that the surgeon knows what he is doing! It's a thyroid op, so I will have a big cut made into my neck, and he's panicking I think as it all sounds quite gory. I think he's worried too that it's going to "change" me somehow. Will probably have to do one too for my daughter so she doesn't feel left out, but she's taking it all in her stride, and thinks its very exciting that she's going to have a mum who looks like a cutthroat pirate!

Sorry, SingySongy, our resident social story expert Wink LisaD seems to be on a break from MN SN. Hope you managed something and that the op goes well. Flowers
