Have a maclaren major at the moment but think DD is finally outgrowing it (She is 11 but the size of a 7-8 yr old) just wondered what people used on here for their older children?

dd3 is 7, she has an invacare action 3 junior wheelchair self propelling version, it's just a basic chair so nothing fancy as she just needs it for distance and only has mild support needs. It's not a lightweight chair but not too heavy to lift in and out of the car as the wheels come off at the press of a button, she can self propel ok and it's easier to push than the major if you take the anti tippers off otherwise you keep kicking them Grin they also offer the blade plus here for the same kind of use/support but I have a feeling you get whichever is cheapest/in the cupboard at that point in time Smile We felt it was time to go down the wheelchair route as her friends were all getting wheelchairs and she wanted to be the same plus saves any of those too big for a buggy comments so we didn't ask about buggies Smile

We have an Invacare (I think its the blade plus) we got it from NHS wheelchair services when DS outgrew his maclaren. It's fairly compact and easy to push but I've just started a thread of my own as I am injured from the stupid anti tip bars that ninjagoose mentions.

Whatever you choose look at how it pushes as well as size/weight/etc.
