I really do despair at the collusion which seems to dominate the SEN system.

Last week, I posted CDC's guff about marmite or jam on toast as an analogy to the choice we don't have in terms of SEN provision.

Today, they are opening their second round of applications for funding for projects under the SEN reforms. I wonder how much they get paid by the Gov for this?

Meanwhile, we submitted a paper to the House of Commons on the reforms and our concerns that the corruption in the system will still remain. We couldn't even get a response until we started tweeting openly about the lack of one.

The response we have now received is outrageous and offensive. I hope to post it tomorrow.

It is just horrendous that

(a) none of the mainstream education journos and newspaper education sections are remotely interested in this issue - shows how sidelined kids with SEN are perceived to be

(b) the major children's charities seem to be fighting over money from the Gov trough and aren't kicking up a storm about this in any major way. Save to suggest minor amendments

Yes to both points. And money are being spent on useless stuff like PP and their 'training' in Essex meanwhile parents have to fight for basic provision..

This is our glorious Big Society at work. Look at all these wonderful things that can be achieved when we get charities involved. Let's just brush all the charities that have lost funding and folded, plus unglamorous LA and NHS provided services that have been squeezed until they pop under the carpet, shall we.

And that the same said LA wants to spend £13k-£16k per annum on a private taxi to 'their school' rather than give a child the correct education in an indie specialist school.

My thoughts exactly. If normal parents raise their voices we are singing off hymn sheet and so ignored.

They is the professionals. They know what's good for us innit!

CDC have no legitimate mandate & hopefully will be a "victim of disruptive technology" in corporate speak now that social media etc gives parents a DIRECT means of public expression. I compare it to digital music versus vinyl .

If they can put in a claim for funding so can your campaign . At least the genuine voices of parents (& I suspect those older teens and children that are able to) are able to be heard via your site and others of a similar vein.

How can you input on the Bill and implement it at the same time?

What are their accountability and oversight mechanisms for that public money? You can't even FOIA them as they're not a public body (might have to check the exceptions to that).

If they are a charity then the Charities commission has to make their accounts and list of trustees public etc. (Or they lose LOTS of tax benefits). There's a similar body for social enterprises.

Don't get more "local" than a Mum's living room ffs - target herts and top ten awful LEA's if you like. ) Neither can you get more local than that same Mum taking the info into her playground. A few Vista print postcards of your site addy would be a great start in some quarters compared to the current info parents receive. Or is that just me and I really should listen to the professionals and doff me cap proper like?

Google docs means we could write the funding proposal as a collaborative effort over a few nights (all you need is a free google log in, and I'd be happy to facilitate, as it's nothing like that twitter malarkey to use).

I'm game. I have just put a detailed funding app for something else with a charity so I am in the zone.
