My lovely little bluechick is now 1 year old!

It's been a horrible year, not the idyllic first year of motherhood that I envisaged. But we're still here, keeping calm (trying to anyway!) and carrying on.

I don't think I could have done it without all of you wonderful people and I want to send a sincere thank you and a big hug to each and every one of you. So many of you have posted wonderful messages and sent me PMs and you've really helped me, and therefore bluechick. Having this place to post and say how I really feel has been a life saver. (Possibly literally, we'll never know.)

So please help yourself to [birthday cake emoticon], and what the hell, it's five o'clock somewhere, .

DS always asked for a unique cake every year, so I've spent days thinking 'Hmm, neolithic round barrow with added trove. How exactly?'

Oooh Happy Birthday Bluechick, and happy birthday Bluebird. It is after all YOUR birthday too. The anniversary of the day you gave birth is as much for your to celebrate.

How lovely to hear from you and may I say, having had the pleasure of meeting you, that your poised-and-ready-for-action attitude blew me away.

Not all parents are able or willing to get into that mode as quickly as you can. Bluechick is very lucky indeed to have a lioness of a mother looking out for her.

Happy Birthday Bluechick! So nice to "see you" Bluebird. As others have said, well done on surviving the rollercoaster you've ridden this last year. I'm sure you don't give yourself enough credit for what you've achieved and survived this past year. Here's hoping that next year is a little easier and then the year after that....
