Speech & lang support at secondary school

Just wondered if any one had any experiences on a child being supported speech and language and also vocabulary within mainstream secondary. DD has statement (12.5 hrs support) I have annual review in a few weeks and at the moment although support is mentioned in the statement this is not quantified or qualified. She is now in yr 7 and at primary S&L therapist put a plan with 1to1 support but at the very end of yr6 and this has not carried on at secondary, school are saying they are supporting within class and curriculum which obviously is not the case and that they cannot allocate time to do this.
What support has any one else experienced at secondary school or am I wasting my time, effort and sanity trying to get school to support her with S&L.

SALT should actually be in both Parts 2 and 3 of the statement document.

Your problem as well is that support (do you specifically mean SALT in this respect) is neither quantified or qualified (as required by law). Making changes to it can be done but it could be both a long and arduous process.

I would contact IPSEA www.ipsea.org.uk and seek their advice in the first instance about this and the wording of Parts 2 and 3.

SALT is in part 2&3 of statement but not quantified or qualified. I have raised the issue of this and school have had S&L therapist re assess as I was insisting they do the plan that was in place. I have not seen the report but I fear that it will not mention any specific support as school is making it clear they do not have time to do interventions. Battled this year to have IEP with more than 2 targets, now have 5 but same amount of time (1 hr a week) so only spends 10 mins on each!
Was wondering what type of support other high school children have for S&L and vocabulary. Dd has come home with re homework and she can't even read the new vocabulary words let alone know the meaning of them from just copying them from the board.

Thanks MumuDeLulu. I have had a look at the links. Again there are some really good programs out there. We have had a good action plan put in place with good resources provided by speech & lang therapist but is not being used. It is more that I want to know what other schools provide in way of do they provided 1:1 support and how often.
