DD has MLD's. She sat a mock GCSE paper in Health & Social care a while back, with the help of a reader, a scribe, and 25% extra time.

She got a 'B' for her mock!!!!

Well done to your dd Couthy. Bragging should be compulsory on this board, it is great to read about the successes in the sn world, heartwarming stuff!

On further discussion, she says she has one of three people as her help in the exams, two she gets on brilliantly with and says they 'understand her', one she really doesn't like because he's a 'grumpy git'.

Lets hope she gets mostly the other two for all her real exams!!

And tbh, I would like to ram a framed copy up the nostril of the SW I had when she was a baby, that told me when she was 7mo (and I had just turned 17) that she would never walk or talk, she would basically be a vegetable, and I ought to give her up for adoption, as I was too young to be able to help her...

I promised myself that day that I would prove her wrong.

And I've spent the last 15 years trying to get DD the help that she needs to achieve her potential.

I'm not about to stop now...

Yep. Even prouder when she tried to extort £2.50 from me on the back of a good result in her mock...

Her reasoning? Well, you give me £5 if I get a good effort grade in my report, or if I get a good grade in a test, so as this was a mock exam, surely it's worth half of that?

(I praised her for good Maths too - a year ago she wouldn't have known or been able to work out that £2.50 was half of £5!)

So lovely to hear good news like this. As a parent of children with SN we have so many sad and worrying days so it's extra important to celebrate the good days. Stories like your daughter doing so well give me hope for my boys' future - and a bit of hope is so important!

Ds is doing RE gcse today.

We wrote off her RE GCSE at the end of Y9 - her school insists that every pupil has to sit in over Y9 & Y10, so a full year early.

DD hadn't progressed enough, and last year, she got a 'U' grade in it. PITA is that now, a year later, she is working at a 'D' grade in it, but with her 'U' from last year, she will be lucky to get an 'F'.

So the H&SC mock mark is a great cheer up from that one, and shows how much progress she has made in Y10 alone!!

She is looking forward to her work experience in July, too - we have found Work experience in a local cake shop (she wants to become a baker), which is run by a man with severe dyspraxia - he is as ditzy as DD, he lost the work experience forms not once but three times - but he understands DD's issues.

He has even told me that of she does well then there is the chance of a Saturday job for her!
