any experience or advice on the dores project

we had someone comeover to talk about this programme yesterday for ds but I'm still sceptical has anyone any experience or heard of anyone who has been on it, any advice would be greatly appreciated

Al I know about them, is that my younger sisters fiance contacted them about his Dyslexia, and weas vrey sceptical, he certainly never followed anything through, but the whole family [which was very weird] started getting calls from this really persistant bloke who worked for them.

Keep an open mind, but often if it seems ot good to be true, it is.

My ds who is 8 started the DORE programme in April. He has ADHD and dyspraxia - very poor fine motor skills so finds writing extremely difficult. We have 10 minute exercises to do each morning and evening for the next 18 months. It is quite a time commitment and also a large financial outlay. If it works then of course it will be worth it. So far have not noticed any improvements although they did warn that it can get worse before it gets better as the exercises have to re-train the brain. Our clinical phsyciatrist was sceptical when we asked him about it and we took about a year to decide to go ahead with it. I am not convinced that it will work but felt we owed it to ds to have a go. Also do believe that it has actually worked for many people and that its origins stem from Mr Dore's daughter having severe dyslexia and him seeking a treatment. Someone else on Mumsnet is further down the line with the programme than me so maybe they'll reply also.

They do have a very commercial marketing force which creates doubts in my mind as to the efficacy of the programme. It does seem hard to substantiate the benefits.

thanks for all the info I know you should try anything but I don't want to get hopes up for something which might be absolute rubbish, I,ll keep an open mind forawhile
