I'm pretty sure DS1 has ADHD. I have made a GPs appointment to try and get a referral. But I'm not sure whether to take DS1 with me or not. He doesn't know this is what I'm thinking (the ADHD) and I know it will make him hugely anxious and possibly resistant. I don't want a clumsy conversation with a GP to make it worse.
DS2 has it (as well as other SN) and this is part of the problem. DS2 is not going to want to think his is 'like' DS2 - and actually he's not really - and I want to handle it carefully.
Do you think its ok to go to GP on my own. Try and get referral and then use the time to prepare DS1 as sensitively as possible?
Or will it not be in my favour with GP if I go along without DS1.

I went to the GP on my own in the first instance and then had an appointment with ds. The GP suggested that a phone consultation may have been more suitable initially but do as you think best.

Thanks so much for replying. I think that's what I'll do unless anyone else comes along and thinks its a bad idea.

Crikey - just looked at my terrible typing. Obviously should read 'DS1 is not going to want to think he is 'like' DS2'
