Son had meeting with SALT where Salt said there was worries regarding sons use of past tense and also son was explaining something to him and used his fingers to tap each other to make a sign and SALT wanted to know whether he had copied other kids in school doing this or he made it up himself.
There is a lot of other difficulties with son (i think asd) but do these point to asd or something else?

Very difficult to say. Why did he have a meeting with salt?

I'm definitely not an expert but didn't want to leave you unanswered. Can you get back in touch and ask them to clarify? I was surprised my son needed to see the SALT as if anything, he is quite forward with language but they explained that context and appropriateness of the language is helpful in diagnosing ASD.

Sorry, not much help, hopefully someone better informed will pitch up.

I think you'll need the SALT to explain his/her concerns.
