It depends where you live. My boys' diagnosis was led by the community paediatrician. CAMHS were involved for DS1, as his hyperactivity needed to be investigaated but not DS2 who was very passive at the time of diagnosis. CAMHS here mostly deal with ADHD and older kids.

Developmental paed dx ds, but sought advice, assessment and reports from SALT and Ed Psych, and HV.

That was even though he'd had a private dx by a different developmental paed.

At least for DC under FT school age here, it's not done by CAHMS.

There is a multidisciplinary team that consists of community Paed, SN health visitor, SALT, EP, and the nursery nurses from the pre-assessment group.

We are seeing them in May, but have been attending the pre-assessment group since September.

Cahms made up part of the multi disaplinary panel that DX DS. However once they've DX they then discharge as in this area they don't deal with kids with asd! Everything is done through the paediatrition if needed.

I am a bit worried now as we were turned down by camhs. Dev paed said probable asd(in the report but in person she said she is confident in the asd just can't diagnosis one appointment. So she said wait for our assessments with consultant psychologist. Psychologist then said yes it's asd and the report will say this clearly.

So as far as I know we have had diagnosis but still waiting for the report and won't believe it till I see it!
