SL/T and ABA workshop for Mumsnetters London 23/2/13

I have been asked by MNers to do a repeat of the workshop I did in Birmingham for those who post on the SN board last year.

We have booked a venue in London and will be running a similar event with two trainers this Saturday. To date we have 10 MNers signed up for this, 4 veterans of Birmingham and 6 newbies. Two people will be running the training, myself and a colleague

As a behaviourally oriented s/lt and the parent of a child with communication issues, the aim is to share with you what has worked for my child and for the many children I work with. You will leave with knowledge of specific measurable programmes, curricula and strategies that will bring about improvements in both your child's communication ability and behaviour.

Please email me for more specific details of the day's content, as well as location, trainer details and price.

Honestly, I'm not sure if you're including me in numbers, on account of a missing cheque and all, but I am definately coming!!!

MerryCouthyMows · 18/02/2013 15:47

I'm struggling to find any money, as I don't get child benefit till the 26th, so it's looking like I can't go because I won't have the train fares. :-(

moondog · 18/02/2013 17:44

Star, I have included you in the numbers and trust you enough to know you will cough up. Grin

I have had my fellow trainer here all afternoon for us to go through everything.
I'll be squeezing in a session on Language for Thinking over lunch too for those who want it as I think it is brilliant and we have developed a full proof way of measuring/remediating every step of the way which is a million times better than the programme's way of taking data.

moondog · 19/02/2013 12:23

Sounds like you have more than enough on your plate at present Merry.
It sounds really grim. I hope you get the help you need. Sad

Thankyou for emailing me the details, Moondog. I would really have loved to have come, but it coincides with family visiting.

moondog · 19/02/2013 13:00

Sorry you can't join us but thanks for letting me know. Smile

Cheers for email. I'll post it in group tonight. Also just seen the other thread you've posted on about TT so just replied. I'd love to hear more about what you have been doing with Language for Thinking. Would love to come to the day but think I am tied up elsewhereHmm

moondog · 20/02/2013 16:36

Do you use it PS?
I can send you the handouts I have prepared for the Mumsnetter training day.
We see great measurable progress with ti and school staff love using it.

Anyone else for the trainnig day? We have space for a few more. Smile

Is this aimed at children with ASD? or any disabilities?

StarlightMcKenzie · 20/02/2013 16:49

Sadly dh won't be able to come. I would be relying on my mum for childcare and she can do two bouncy children, but not three. The plan was to get a girl in to help her but it didn't happen. Sad

moondog · 20/02/2013 16:53

Any Polly. Any who have trouble learning or with language and socialisation.

Email me and I shall send you full details

Sorry to hear that Star but look forward to seeing you this time-seeing a lot less of you actually as you were pg last time!

Unfortunately there really isn't a lot less. In fact, given that breastfeeding makes me put on weight there could well be more......

moondog · 20/02/2013 17:27
Grin Know the feeling having breastfed for years and years...

Actually, it's worse than that atm, coz weaning gives me very bad acne as the hormones start to adjust. So I'm a right ole mess.

So I'll be the one dressed in a bin-liner with a bucket over my head...........

Goodness, no-one tells you how much your kids zap from you. Though they are just very trying during half term brilliant and funny and worth everything.

moondog · 20/02/2013 17:36

Grin again
I thought my sister got it right when she once observed that everyone looks dog rough pushing a pram.
Ah those days of grimacing into the wind, pushing old wreck laden with placcy bags and still in maternity clothes years months after the happy event....

moondog · 22/02/2013 09:56

A few more enquiries coming in.
I'm about to pack up and get my train in a few hours so just in case there is anyone else who has missed this, am bumping....
