Does anyone attend or run a speech support group?

Hi,

My four year old has speech difficulties. I would really like to meet other parents whose children are in the same boat. His speech therapist said that he could join the local speech club but it doesn't appear to be running at the moment.

I volunteer for a charity which has free rooms available for groups and was wondering about starting my own support group. I could also hold the group in the charities bookshop. I have no idea how to get started or what people would expect.

Can anyone give me some ideas please or let me know if you think it's a bad idea!

Sounds like a great idea! Have you had a look at Afasic? They are a great speech charity and have groups around the country. There might be one near you already, but if not then I imagine that they would be very helpful about advising how to set one up.
