My own stupid fault... coming out of sn kindy she is being a pain in the butt. Normally she is pretty good about walking to the car ( comapred to some of your children - this is mild) I am trying to push buggy with dd2 down the road to the car parked in the last space away down the road.

She decides to sit down, refuse to walk, then wants to carry her lunch bag, then runs off into the playground, then walks some more and then runs into the staff car park. I am soooo fed up with this stupid run off play game until someone chases me, I take dd2 to the car and strap in her in whilst keeping an eye on dd1.

I turn to go back to her and she is on the path and starts walking nicely to me..... I think yeh - she is getting the idea of coming to mummy etc.... Then she just turns and runs out into the middle of the road. Shock I screamed STOP and she just laughed and kept running.

My heart was in my mouth as I ran up the road to get her. Thank goodness there was nothing coming and it is not a busy street.... Bad mother that I am - I smacked her bum and shouted at her she was very very naughty. BUT the next vehicle that came down the road was a BUS!!!! Shock

Then proceeded to lecture her all the way home... when mummy says stop, you stop etc... what do you do when mummy says stop etc. This running off and chasy attitude is drving me nuts.... okay at home and in the garden but walking down the road!!!!

I was sooooo Angry and frightened I just kept ranting like a mad woman.

So our plan is to spend the weekend doing stop/go /come all round the garden for four days ( dh has long weekend)

Oh my goodness

That is soooooo scary Shock

Hope you are successful with the lessons Smile

Oh, it's so horrible when they do something like that & you spend the rest of the week reliving the What Ifs!

Can you threaten her with reins / wriststrap things? How old is she?

eidsvold · 19/04/2006 22:38

she is 3 1/2 milliways and saying to her if you don't walk with mummy you will have to wear reins just isn't an incentive.... so we will see how she goes this morning at her sn kindy. At least her mainstream one has its own carpark as it is on a very busy road.

still feel sick about it.

I thought it may have to do with driveway part way down the path ( for staff car park) making it easy for her to go down onto the road rather than hesitating and 'climbing' down the kerb.

Today I was able to park closer and before the driveway - no attempt to even go near the kerb and onto the road. She helped push the pram and was fab!! Maybe mummy's tantrum and shocked shouting worked... or maybe being away from the driveway helped.
