How do I get an official grade of ASD or special need?

Ds got diagnosed with ASD just before Christmas , His preschool teacher says I should get a grade or level along with the diagnosis . She said this helps with funding, eg higher level more support in the setting. She believes he needs 1 2 1.

He is not 3 yet and she also said there is only funding when you are 3 but I want to make this happen. I have spoke to the doctor who gave the diagnosis he said there is no grade only descriptions of what he can / can't do which is in the report .

So who's right ? How do I get an official grade ? I'm moving area on two weeks so maybe they will be more helpful with this?!

Thanks :)

Sadie It isn't so much a conspiracy but more that the funding streams are volatile as well as jobs and no-one really knows what is going on on the inside. People 'could' but prefer to whinge about their pensions, public sector cuts and do the bare minimum as they don't feel they are being rewarded fairly.

That's why I mentioned the SALTs up thread I think, they were the only ones who ever seemed to volunteer things, as opposed to everyone else who seemed to think I came with intimate knowledge of the ins and outs of their service provision.

He is now 2 years 3 months non verbal but has never had any speech / language therapy . I raised my concerns when he was 16 months and he saw the paediatrician at 21 months, then diagnosed a month ago. I was told SALT would happen now but I have her coming to give me tips on what to work on as I'm moving area. Is it usual to get to this age with no SALT?
