Please recommend a good waterproof matress cover.

I've given up on the fitted sheet type as they just come off and break on the corners.
Can someone point me in the right direction of a decent one that envelopes the whole matrees but doesn't cost a fortume?

Yes, was going to recommend Liegelind as they are fab and sit under your sheet - totally agree about the corners. They are easy to wash and feel like a heavy flannel rather than crinkly. I bought one large one and cut it down so that I have three and they are still on the go four years later. Just checked on the site where mine came from and unfortunately Liegelind stopped trading... However, The Nappy Lady who supplies them is very good and thinks the HippiChick flat protector is almost the same.

We got one 6 years ago for DS and still going strong. We didn't get it from the link and we only spent £100 which was a bargain considering how many other mattresses he had reduced to just springs.

When you say envelopes the whole mattress, do you mean the underside too?

I use one that is a fitted terry towelling topped one, the fitted sides are a different material.

Totally waterproof, I like it because it is easily machine washable and dries quickly if hung up over a door in my house

I second Hippychick ones, all three of my dcs have them and they do different sizes so you can get ones that cover the whole mattress if you tuck it in.

They are soft on both side, with the waterproof membrane in the middle, so no crackling, rustling or stickiness and they wash and tumble dry well - although take a while to dry even in the tumble drier.

Asda also do a reasonable single adult size waterproof mattress for between £100-120. Pop a fleece blanket (I just bought a couple of metres of fleece from a fabric shop) under a cotton sheet to stop that horrible plastic sweaty effect & it seems to stay nice without the bedroom getting stinky over time iykwim. For a heavy 3-4 times a night wetter like my son used to be it's a good long term solution.

I got fed up with duvets and used fleece blankets on top for ease of drying quickly with a cotton topsheet for the comfort factor. DS also has a couple of mummy sleeping bags for the same reason. (I never found a duvet protector that was fully waterproof AND comfortable). Bedding had to be able to dry over the banisters in a day.
