SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Is this a bonkers idea, or has anyone else experienced this?

DS is nearly 6. He has ASD and a speech delay.

Last Christmas he had three days off just before the end of term with a mystery illness. He had a really high temperature and was really sleepy but no other symptoms.

The week before we broke up for Summer was the same thing, and he has gone back to school this morning after suffering from the same thing.

Its almost like the change in routine effects him, or makes him more susceptible to these bugs. He hasnt had any other time off from school and apart from these times has never actually been poorly since he was a toddler.

My DD had a very similar thing, Very high temp, no sign of infections or sore ears, complained of a sore tummy but urine was clear. Drs were clueless and were about to refer to hospital on day 5 - but she got over it .

Just very odd that there was no sign of infection as with temp at 40 she normally has ear infection and needs anti -b'S

Hello my Ds is currently being assessed for asd, we have also noticed that there is a pattern to his illnesses and it will always be around the time that there are disruptions to his school days eg school concerts (summer/christmas), parties, free time, sports days etc. Symptoms will always be temperature, moving the goo in his throat???, looking drained and saying that his legs feel shaky.

But saying that the term before christmas is quite long so it just may be that his body is tired all those changes and new routines, and as we all know when our bodies suffer from fatigue it starts to affect our immune system and at the moment there are lots of bugs going around...then theres that thing that the Dc are in the cold and wet then back into a v warm enviroment then back in the cold at wet and so on.

Its a shame I always feel awful because he has spent all of his time practicing for the concerts and gets excited about the parties etc then he misses them Sad.
