Hiya - I have 2 proof copies of a book called Eye Contact by Cammie McGovern which was released last month I think. It's about a boy with severe autism (non-verbal) who is witness to a murder of a young girl. I really enjoyed it. It was like reading a detective/crime novel but set in a world I'm familiar with i.e Special Needs.

The blurb says:

IN the woods of a small American town, Adam, a nine year old autistic boy, is discovered next to the body of a young girl. They both went missing from school several hours earlier and now the police need Adam to tell them what he knows. But Adam has retreated into a silent world that Cara, his mother, knows only too well.

So - first to email me can have a copy!: vivienne dot watton at dk dot com

I saw this last week in ASDA and thought it looked interesting but I restrained myself due to the pile of unread books I already have!

HITC - many thanks for the copy you lent me when we met - I loved it. Alot of ds's behaviour rings true to that of Adam. Definitely recommended and I liked to proof read it as I went along - but that's just me Grin
