Talk to me about statements and SS

We have finally managed to get our 8 yr old DS with ASD 32 hours on his statement. Having started with a statement prior to school, the support has not made a huge amount of difference, mainly due to the complete lack of direction/ interest/ support from the SENCO.
We are really wanting to get him into a special school - is this somewhere that we can name when we return the amended statement? Even the Statement mentions how he needs to "be taught in a small, quiet, calm group setting with minimal auditory, visual and tactile distractions". Hardly MS, is it?! We have a ss in mind. Can we just go ahead and name it?

I would think so. Good Luck!

Has the SS a place available ?

His assessment is taking place in January. If he passes the assessment, they will have a place as they have only a handful of children that go in pre-secondary school
