I really want to get back to work now girls are sorted at school. A job has come up three mornings a week, working with an older lad with visual disabilities.
I really would like this but will be honest and say while I'm trained to work with kids, I'm only trained to age 10 years. My experience of education was 9 years ago and have spent last 9 years in social care roles. I currently do work with teenagers but they are all pregnant or had babies.
I have experience with visual stuff and my own SN experience is my own ASD kids.
Any help or advice??
Am I wasting my time?

i haven't got any pointers for you but wanted to give you these Thanks

what an amazingly lovely and giving person you are, all that support you give to your own DDs but have the energy to give more by way of a paid job.

i couldn't even contemplate taking something like that on Blush

I think if you want to do it you should go for it, it sounds like you have a lot of the skills needed! From our experience with dd3, who is nowhere near being a teen but has a VI, ms was just a complete nightmare as far as getting anyone to take the VI seriously, if I had a pound for everyone who said but she doesn't look blind, I could have set up my own VI school Grin

For what my opinion's worth, it sounds as if you have transferrable skills which mean that you could do the job. And for the bits you are unsure about as Socrates said the wisest person is the one who knows that s/he doesn't know.

The ninja if it helps its a small private school Wink

And thank you, will be sure to put about the transferable skills.
Now just trying to decide on who to put as references!
