hello.

Found out yesterday that even though everyone involved with ds2 had submitted a report to his pre school advisory teacher, the Ed psych is still delaying taking the request to the SAMG panel, this is after she delayed from saying it would be done following his dx last july and agreed to take it forward when I offered to do it myself [becuase heck, I can appeal]. I'm furious, and have no frigging contact number for her.

Our LEA annoyingly pride themselves on tehir inclusion policies, but frankly their provision for pre schoolers is f*cking dire. Elijahs had 1:1 10 hours a week all ths term because the district SENCO managed to get a one off payout from SS, but the moneys almost all gone so its going to end when we brek up for easter, We can't afford to pay for it ourselves and I've gone cap in hand to a charity run by DPs employers [royal mail - the Rowland hill foundation, and POOBI] to see if they'll pay for the 1:1 for the summer term, which hasn't been great and I had to really swallow my pride for that one, we're awaiting a decision, and every possible thngis crossed!

Anyway according to ds2s pre school advisory teacher who goes in and does 'basket work' with him on a weekly basis the paperwork should have gone off now and I'l recieve a form asking for my opinion shortly..., which sounds like more delaying horsecrap to me.

I've just sent a long and wordy email to the acting head Inclusion officer explaining the situation, with enough info for them to be able to access ds2's file if needs be, and basically asking if there are any funds the preschool could apply to to secure better support for the SEN children in the setting.

What I'd like to do is find the Ed psych shout loudly at her till i feel better, but what i'll probably do is see if I get a reply and see what IPSEA suggest!, that and printout the requets form you can download from the county councils website and send it in ASAP. WHy did I beleive them when they said it would be sene to asap... they clearly have no intention of getting him statmented till he's about to start primary education the stupid gits.

rant over.

well done if you read it all.

updates own post, and as such looks like a right billy no mates!

Just had a reply from the Inclusion officer, she's going to speak to the Ed psych and our pre school teacher and get back to me when she finds out exactly whats what.

If I felt anything other then polite contempt for the ed psych I'd feel bad for being such a bloody nag, but as it is, I think she's useless and is letting my son down so I don't care if she thinks I go on like a tireless bore, of ocurse if she'd done what she claimed ot be doing all along I wouldn't need to be.

Suggest you read the other post about the problem page in a magazine and start making a long list of fruit!
Sorry ......not trying to be flippant as I can understand how angry you must be. It's not fair to delay like that when we all know how important early intervention can be. Let's hope the acting Inclusion officer can get things moving. Keep us posted.

Do you both live in Hampshire by any chance lol. Sorry, it's just that the ed psyc who is "supposed" to be involved with my ds is as much use as a chocolate fireguard too! There must be some good ones out there somewhere, shame we haven't come across one yet eh! Emmalou, agree with socci, you are better off doing the request yourself. We have done it twice now, the first one the ed psyc didn't really support at all, now 2 years later (with no involvement from her since july 05) we have made another request and ds is going to be assessed. Hope it all works out for you.Smile

just dug out all the most recent reports I have about elijah, the clinical psychologist and SALT did one especially and sent me copies otcheck through before they forwarded it on the ed.psych, I also have a recent report from the advisory teacher [january] and the Ed psych [feb]so I'll send copies of those, and his diagnostic report as supporting evidence... Its meant ot be a form you fill in and submit online, but I think I'll hazard printing it off and posting I to the special needs section at county hall... that way can include the paperwork and a covering letter which will give me more room the the teensy 'difficulties your child is experiencing' box... I'll base my letter on the templates on the IPSEA site...

I have a hunch that the ed psych is in pre school this tuesday, but as theres a Unison strike ds1 is off school [as ALL the teaching support, dinner ladies etc are going to be on strike] I'm not able to hang round and politely enquire why she hasn't done it yet... or tell her that as I've basically been stupid enough to take them at their word for 8 months I'll send things in myself... Thats what gets me most, the systems really letting my boy down and I've f*cking let it Angry.

Going to pass the inclusion oficers name and contact details onto preschool in the morning, so tehy can contact her and see if theres any services they can access for him....
