Has anyone experience of the way st helens LEA work, with regards to the title and the following:

Did you get a statement

Who did you see on the road to diagnosis

How long was your wait

Is there anyone you could recommend that could be a good advocate

Anything at all you think may be useful

I spoke to PPS who said my request for SA will be rejected. I lost my faith in her totally after she suggested triple p parenting course and about my anxieties as well!!!

Not holding out much hope at the moment.

I know now that their PPS are shit, - but, erm, you told me that!

To be fair, PPS can be quite helpful in signposting and giving actual NAMES of people when you want them, and phone numbers. Don't trust them on their 'advice' though.

is PPS parent partnership? If so they shouldn't be saying that about SA- it's nothing to do with them. You don't need to tell PP so much about yourself e.g. about your anxiety, although it's very easy to get drawn into it.
Ours weren't much use TBH. Quite unprofessional really. Cancelled meetings and never rearranged - that kind of thing. I included them in the SA process (on advice from a very good source) so that I could say that the PP box was 'ticked.'

Thank you both.

Must admit I was abit shocked with her telling me they don't usually do statements as it sounds like a blanket policy, especially when she hadn't heard all the details. It's good to know I have ticked their box though.

be prepared to play phone tag and do some google detective work, and find someone adminny who can advise re:usual procedure and waiting times for diagnosis.

PP can by all accounts be somewhat variable from council to council, sounds like your one is particularly useless tbh. I know in some areas barnados support parents re:SN and schooling etc. not sure what there is out there in St Helen supportwise though, sorry, no harm in checking out nearest NAS branch.
