Can you give us some ideas of the type of behaviours you are trying to manage ?

dietstartstmoz · 13/07/2012 15:26

How old is your son? What type of behaviours do you need help with? Why have you been referred to camhs?

StarlightWithAsteroid · 13/07/2012 15:28

Have Cahms not suggested anything at all?

thriftychic · 13/07/2012 15:54

we were referred to camhs 18 months ago , they did the ados test which didnt show autism but we have been passed fro pillar to post.
basically it just looks like when things dont go his way he flips , but obviously theres more to it than that !
cant write much now , am rushing out but will be back later

Hi we were told that by community paediatrician. NS children benefit from the methods. And if dx is a good start on intervention.

Basically we do
Following a structured routine.
Prewarning of changes (even little changes)
Visual support of everything (pics of whats going to happen)
Visual count downs to changes (sand timers)
Red stop signs (to prevent unwanted behaviours escalating)
And everyone singing from the same hymn sheet so unwanted behaviours are treated the same every time.

How old is he?

SilkStalkings · 14/07/2012 08:44

I know I say this a lot Grin but... Google Pathological Demand Avoidance. Even if he doesn't have it, the handling style might be something you haven't tried before.
