Just because it is my birthday!!!

Sorry about the shameless bigging up of myselfBlush

Hope everyone has had good weeks, ds has finally woken up after being sedated for his eeg on Tues, he has been like a drunk all week. We have just been told he is going to get weekly hydrotherapy at a lovely pool, yay!

Right I have to get everyone to school and start the day of festivities - which includes a cricket match, giant inflatable stonehenge and a recorder concert (obviously all in my honour!).

We have had quite a good week here despite Dc's being under the weather. What is going round at the mo? DS has high temp headache and sore-ish throat and feels like he is getting a cold - same since Monday and no sign of a cold coming, and Dd is complaining of stomach ache, headache and has dry cough. Roll on the end of term.
DS has though been to visit his new high school today. He had a good day apparently. They have looked after him well - it was the day all the year 6's in the borough go. He is going again for another individual visit next Monday so it is all getting going for him. - And it seems like they are making an effort. I just hope that all these good signs are an omen for next term.
We are off for the weekend for MIL's birthday bash so thought I'd better get in early tonight.
badvoc prayers for your DS recovery and you to cope with it all.

Offers Wine and chocolate to all.

StarlightWithAsteroid · 29/06/2012 18:04

Wow! Great news star! :) well done!

StarlightWithAsteroid · 29/06/2012 18:13

Well who knows where we're going but it at least raises the possibility of no tribunal.

intothewest · 29/06/2012 18:29

Hi All,
Happy Birthday HJ
Badvoc- thinking of you and your DS
Star- hope it goes well
Hello to everyone else

I'm still here though not posting much.
I am taking DS out to a gig tonight..half of me thinks I have truly flipped. He loves this guy,but seeing him in the flesh...........
We've had two weeks of meltdowns and near meltdowns as his carnival balloon flew off in the wind,
Oh well, you've got to keep trying !!!!!Grin

starfish71 · 29/06/2012 18:59

Have hit a low today, had meeting about DS1 Wednesday morning about how to try and move him forward, get him out of house, possibly into the dreaded (though seems actually ok ish) PRU, only a stepping stone I keep telling myself and professionals loudly!

Then annual review for DS2, very positive review, has settled brilliantly there but the reality of him being a good two years behind his peers. I am feeling yucky today. It will pass but god it hurts today.

Hugs and positive thoughts to all who need them this week.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 29/06/2012 19:09

Prayers and best wishes to both Badvoc and her DS. I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

((((((((((starfish)))))))))))))))

Parents evening next week along with DS's IEP on the same day. At least his last one was actually SMART.

Two weeks now till Mr Meerkat and I go and see Bruce Springsteen at Hyde Park Calling - my one night away from all the realities of day to day living where I can sing along badly whilst watching one of, if not the, best live bands on this planet. Thank you Mr M.

I'd also like to go see Ice Age 4.

Ineedalife · 29/06/2012 19:30

I popped in earlier but forgot to say that Dd3 made a huge step in her social communicaton the other day......

She said "Hi" to someone who said Good morning to her!!! YayGrin

I was lucky enough to be able to tell the SEN team at her school on the same day and they were really pleased too.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 29/06/2012 19:31

Hi all, gigs sound great into and Atilla.

Hope new school is positive, unchartered.

Alison that sounds good, exciting times.

(((( starfish ))))

zzzzz glad venting on here helped.

And Star are they really negotiating? Wow!

It's quirky DS3's birthday tomorrow. I'm so glad it's my weekend. Smile Dickhead doesn't even know who his friends are, let alone their parents. DS is having half a dozen to see the cheap Sat morning film then back here for takeaway pizza.

It's DS2's annual review on Monday and amazingly I'm quite happy. His secondary are just so competent and he's doing fine.

Just been to the chippy (popped into the Chinese next door for me) and the evening is calm. Just got some present wrapping to sort out. Oh yes, minor panic as DS3's main present is still somewhere between me and Amazon marketplace, but at least DS3 will be fine about it...

Lolaismyfavouriteandmybest · 29/06/2012 19:41

Hi All, can I join you tonight please?

I often read the Friday thread but the problem is when I try to reply I've forgotten who said what...

So happy birthday to ? (sorry..)

Badvoc I'm thinking of you and your ds

To everyone else having a tough week I'm like to send wine but I don't have a clue how to make the picture (so I'm just drinking some instead)

Dd has just offered to buy me detol as then I can throw away my rubber gloves and be happy. If only that would do it Grin I'm under a lot of pressure at work and dd is having the usual end of term anxiety and we aren't getting along Sad

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 29/06/2012 19:45

Thanks for the Wine

Actually it's quite easy, you just type [ wine] but without the space between [ and wine]

Sorry for the end of term stress. Changes, eh?

LollipopViolet · 29/06/2012 20:15

Evening all. I'm feeling quite sad tonight :(

I graduate in two weeks - should be a time of celebration, right?

And it will be, but I'm really not sure what I want to do anymore... My parents have said I have to do the Jobseekers forms on Monday as I become eligible to claim. I'm worried the job centre will try and force me into a job I simply don't feel comfortable/safe doing. Also a lot of the jobs in our area want driving licences - which I'm not able to get :(

BUT, on a happier note:

Our course leader sent us all a lovely email saying good luck for the future, and to go and see him after degree classifications come out on Tuesday, if we want a chat. I'm going to go, and I'm going to take him a present as he's been such a help over the past 3.5 years. I'm also going to write a nice email to him in a bit telling him just how much I've appreciated all his help and advice.

I'm also waiting to hear if I've got an interview for a job :)

Sorry to hear some are having a rough time - Badvoc, sending good vibes to you and your DS, hope he's better soon x

Happy birthday hazeyjane :) x

NoHaudinMaWheest · 29/06/2012 20:17

Hi everyone. Badvoc sorry to hear about your Ds - hope there is improvement soon and hope you are ok.
Alison Star unchartered hope the positive signs continue.
Ineed that is progress well done to Dd
Starfish sorry its such a tough time.

Bit of a mixed week here. Two school visits for Ds's possible 6th form placement. One has a good reputation for SN but didn't feel right somehow. Ds came with me to the other. He really liked it and made a good impression. I think it is a good school but not sure that they can provide the support he needs. It may be that he needs a boarding place anyway to help get on top of the OCD.
He has a preadmission assessment at the Maudsley in London next week and I hope they will give us an admission date then.
My mum has just phoned to tell me that my cousin who is just a year older than me and who has 2 DCs about the same age as mine has just discovered that her cancer had spread to her brain. It is her DD's 12th birthday tomorrow.

moosemama · 29/06/2012 20:24

Right, this is very quick because I am not doing very well and have had the week from hell, health, life and SEN-wise, so am off to bed in a mo.

Happy Birthday Hazey!

Badvoc, sending much love and light to you, ds2 and your family. Hope he's better really soon. ((hugs))

Starfish ((hugs))

and

Welcome Lola - good to have you on board - and you don't have to remember what everyone else has said, just tell us what's been going on for you and join in the chat if there is one.

... and that's me done.

Sorry to those I've not responded to. Needless to say hugs and cheers wherever needed.

moosemama · 29/06/2012 20:25

Sorry, cross-posted NoHaudin. So sorry to hear about your cousin. ((hug))

NoHaudinMaWheest · 29/06/2012 20:30

Moose sorry its been a bad week for you. Hope you get a good night's sleep.

Lolaismyfavouriteandmybest · 29/06/2012 20:57

Sad for your cousin Nohaudin

Lollipop - congratulations! What did you graduate in?

Just a test drink Wine for you all

LollipopViolet · 29/06/2012 21:01

Lola, thank you :) I'll graduate in Media (Film) Production.

Oh, and some other news - I might end up doing some photos at a friend's wedding, and doing an album as a present.

He's a friend of my boyfriend, and is lovely, so if he says yes, I'll happily do it, as long as he realizes that I'm still learning :) It's a tiny wedding apparently, so that's kind of good.

Who'd have thought it, a visually impaired wedding photographer! Grin

Lolaismyfavouriteandmybest · 29/06/2012 21:09

Lollipop Grin I'm a blind colour chemist. It takes all sorts!

Don't worry about the job centre. They are far too clueless into pushing you into a job you aren't comfortable with! Just don't expect much help from them though. Are you registered sight impaired? There are/were lots of schemes that offer you money to help you get established (right clothes etc) once you find a job. I also get help with travel to and from work (through access to work) as it isn't accessible by public transport.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 29/06/2012 21:13

Lola thanks.
Lollipop that sounds interesting. Hope that the job hunt turns up something. It is so difficult at the moment. I graduated in the early 80s and remember the real struggle to get a job. Must be worse if you also have complications from a disability.
