DS2 is in restart tomorrow

DS2 is going through the process of being diagnosed with aspergers. He's year 6 and just finished his SATS.

Tonight his teacher rang to say finally they're having to put him in restart. Basically, this is him going into the library to sit alone with a member of staff. He's had more chances than the rest of the dcs and they have to do it. He is upset about it which is a good sign in a way as he's been flippant about being told off before, even smirking and laughing. I just hope this sinks in as he's off to comp soon?

He's visiting his new school in the morning then in restart in the afternoon.

I'm absolutely shattered myself as he has me up in the night as he thinks snakes are on him He had to go and sleep on the sofa and had the living room light on last night. I just hope this passes soon?

Will see what today brings? His teacher said she'll ring me to arrange an appointment with herself, the head and me.

Well ds2 had a 'perfect' day according to his teacher. He took restart on the chin and didn't join in when another boy was misbehaving. We had a short meeting at the end of the day and ds2 was there too. All very positive. I'm hoping it lasts?

Hi curious. Is restart a sort of detention? Have you got a transition plan for him to go the secondary school? What's the secondary school SENCo like?

Yes it's detention during the school day. The teacher and his nurse are in touch with his comp and apparently the next SENCO is good? He's in the process of being diagnosed. I'm hoping he will be asap?

His visit to the comp today went very well too. He can't wait to go there which surprised one of his drs, he thought it'd be traumatic for him?

You need to meet the next SENCo yourself, I think. Find out what plans the new school has for him.

How long is this Restart for? It is basically seclusion?
