Free loft installation if your child gets DLA

This may be common knowledge but i only found out today. Apparently I can get my loft insulated for free as ds gets DLA. I don't know if this is a countrywide deal or if its just in our area but thought I'd mention it. I'm pretty sure its all above board as we don't have to pay any money up front - the chap who does the work gets paid by the council or DWP or something. Its going to be a PITA getting everything out of the loft but I reckon I can just about manage it

Think ours has been done, otherwise we would have got it done

Thanks!

My sister is just going to get this done as her husband gets DLA following a stroke. I think there may be other things around the house you can get done too.

We had this done as a result of dd's DLA - but thanks for letting us know

There are:- If you claim DLA then you may be entitled to free loft insulation, free cavity wall insulation, draught excluders and if you boiler doesn't work or is ineffective then they may replace that for you too.

The company operating the scheme (Warm Front) on behalf of defra is called Eaga Partnership. I can look up contact details if anyone wants them but you can probably just google.

Just a note of warning - it can take a long time. We applied in Sept. Finally had someone come to assess us at the end of Jan. It will now take up to 6 weeks for the people who will actually carry out the work just to contact us and can take up to 6 months after that before they carry out the work. So probably over a year....

Now there is an incentive for me to get on and fill the bl*y form out. Do you qualify whatever level - if we get it I think it will be lower rate (although met a women today who has 2 deaf kids, more deaf one gets lower rate and less deaf one middle - how does that work?)
