he's going to be 6.
he has autism and is non verbal.
he loves things like ribbon and straws he can roll up.
nothing too expensive as he's getting a new custom made swing set out the back! (heavy duty, made from telegraph poles!)
but i want him to be able to unwrap a couple of things on his birthday.
any ideas gratefully appreciated thanks.

I got dd2 for xmas loads of the 'pocket money' toys from the Sensory Toy Warehouse website. They cost between 20p-1.50 for each toy then I put them all in a nice box. She loves little bits

What about Wikki Stix or Bendaroos. They are waxed strips that you can roll up, mold, stick together etc and then unravel and do it all over again.

I got my DS the Octonauts bath toys. He loves his bath and loves new bath toys.

Playfoam - it is fantastic and really good for the sensory seekers. You can mould it into all sorts of things asnd it does not create the mess that Playdough creates.

Ds1 just turned 7 and is non verbal. Things that have been a success are a guitar he likes to strum it. Moon dough and sand playdoh a spinning chair from ikea and a one button remote control digger.

Thanks for all those great ideas. I love the box idea with all those different things, zzzzz!
I actually have bendaroos somewhere, but he chews everything so maybe not unsupervised!
Staryeyed we have that spinning chair too! Yes, he loves to spin!
I will check out the playfoam & other ideas. Thanks so much.

We got DS2 some VTech kidminiz and a load of jigsaws for his 6th birthday, the other week (in a couple of months, he's gone from OCD lining up of jigsaw pieces and not tolerating them half done, to independently completing 24 piece puzzles and working with me on 40 piece puzzles! :o )
