Statementing carrying no funding?

Am looking around Kent for a move there with my 2 children who have different SENs - am being told by Kent Council and head teachers there that statementing of children in Kent now carries no extra funding with it, so schools just have to rely on their existing (already overstretched) resources. One SENCO told me that children aren't getting what they need, as schools are so strapped they just have to try to satisfy the statement on paper never mind what the child really needs....
My DH is keen to move soon, but the SEN situation there just fills me with horror - anyone had any positive experiences there or can provide any info?

I think this happening across the board as in our county from september statements will no longer come with funding although it has been implied that the schools will hold a budget that they can use as they see fit, not sure if this will be extra money on top of there existing budget though?

Legally funding is NOT your problems as a parent - the LEA have a duty to provide. School sob stories don't cut it. Don't be scared to tell them that their office politics is their problem, and it is their duty to provide what's in the statement.

In short. They are lying. Statements don't carry funding technically but the whole purpose of them is to state the provision that your child that is outside the resources and ability of the school to provide and as such is the responsibility of the LA.

But, funding is of no concern to you. If it is specified in the statement (which will take a minimum of 6 months to get but 18months if you have to appeal and go to tribunal at each stage - increasingly common) that your child needs 20 hour of 1:1 then it really is none if your business whether the LA pay for it or get in a trained volunteer for free. That is THEIR issue, not yours.

A LA that talks about funding in this way is not an LA I woukd move to. Sorry.
