People replying to a direct payments ad! And a mother rang up and said she's happy to have DS1 during the summer to do son-rise with him (and her son) for free. (Davros- behave )

Bit overwhelmed really.

Been getting a bit stressed recently (!!) so it'll help!

And....... Mum and Dad bought us a night away in a hotel for Xmas. Its tomorrow night and they're moving in here for the night. 2nd time in 6 and a half years (not counting a PECS conference).

Wahey, great news..... but how do you choose? So, are you going to take the Options option?

I am really pleased that you are happy, but have no idea what son-rise is

getbakainyourjimjams · 10/02/2006 20:46

Yeah- I'll take the options option There are so few people doing any sort of home programmes at all down here that I think its good to go and see, and we should stick together more! I'm a bit of a believer in grabbing bits and pieces of what works as well. DS1 does get a lot of behavioural work a school (which I think is the best way to learn -definitely- and he responds really well to it), but he's drawn to mirrors etc and I'll be interested to see whether how he responds to son-rise type stuff. It's so difficult to keep him occupied during the holidays I don't want to do him out of anything he might benefit from. Who knows he may kind of make a "friend" as well (which I think is what the Mum wants from ds1 as well)- you know what I mean! There aren;t many children around here as severe as ds1 so I like meeting the mums anyway!

Growing Minds are back in the UK in Sept- who knows maybe I'll go and get an official combined ABA/son-rise programme

Tomorrow night Davros. And I've been meaning to email you as well- soon!

I think its Saturday because DS has been off school sick At least when he's ill, which is very rarely, he slumps around and sleeps a lot. Fio, how can you bleach what's not there ??

getbakainyourjimjams · 10/02/2006 20:52

Oh poor ds1- hope he's better soon.
