Been reading a bit about it today and like the sound of it. Wondering if anyone here had any direct experience of this approach for ASD or other communication disorders and what they thought

I've never heard of it, but would like to know more.

I see you've got capital I I so is it a formalised programme or intervention? Is there a website we could look at?

Try this link. I've heard it mentioned once or twice over recent months but never looked into it until today. Think our Early Yrs teacher is doing something like this with DS on her weekly visits so will ask her more about it this week

Looks very interesting! I've never heard of it before. It looks like something that makes lots of sense but I reckon you'd need a lot of skill and training to do it effectively.

I know it was used with a very severely autistic boy at a special school locally. Apparently they had tried ABA and various other techniques but he remained unable to tolerate people near him and had very challenging behaviour. They charted behaviours folowing introduction of II and found that it had a positive effect. His behaviour is now less challenging- and- this was the biggy- he could tolerate being in the same room as his classmates, and was beginning to interact with people for the first time ever (iirc he was 11 or 12)

I've also heard very positive things about its use with PMLD students.

yes davros- the teacher who intoduced it with this boy said it was essential that everyone coming into contact with the boy at school was trained in it.
