The Government has asked a Children and Young People?s Health Outcomes Forum to engage and hear views from children, young people, parents as well as those involved with their health care and think about what would improve things to lead to better outcomes for children and their families. The work will inform the development of the first ever Children & Young People's Health Outcomes Strategy to be published in the summer.

The Strategy will ensure that the outcomes measured are the ones that matter most to children, young people, their families and the professionals responsible for their care The Forum are asking parent carers to think about the following questions for each of the key issues:

  1. Getting into the system 2. Getting a quality assessment 3. Getting a quality service 4. Transition

This is one of the most important opportunities for ensuring the needs of disabled children and young people are considered in NHS Outcomes Framework that there has ever been, so your involvement and input is essential.

There are 2 ways that you can ensure your voice is heard

You can attend the Parent Carer Participation event on March 28th in Birmingham, where the co-chair of the Health Outcomes Forum, Christine Lenehan will explain this opportunity, and you will have the chance to ensure your views are heard. If you are unable to attend, you can make sure your views are considered by completing the short attached questionnaire.

The NNPCF Steering Group believe that this is a HIGH priority opportunity for parent carer voices to influence Health for disabled children and young people, so please don?t miss this opportunity.

If you want to attend the event in March, you can download a registration form at www.nnpcf.org.uk/news-and-consultations or contact Helen Jones on 0773889 5007.

If you are unable to attend, please complete the attached questionnaire and return to Helen Jones [email protected]

There is a very tight timescale attached to this, so the closing date for involvement is April 30th

Kind regards

Sherann Hillman
North West NNPCF Steering Group Representative
