DS is being bullied to persuade him to

DS is 10.5 years

He has Dyspraxia and has the Policing traits of ASD

There are 3 or 4 children in his class who swear and are tomenting him trying to get him to as well

He sees things so black and white and knows it is wrong and so won't do it

The problem is that DS wants us to write a letter to the class teacher and Head to tell on these boys. {who are all 11 years old and are sort of his "friends"}

Is it going to make life worse for him?

The school don't understand his "police" traits.

why don't you have a quiet word with his teacher? explain that he wants you to talk to her and what's going on... maybe she can keep a closer eye on them all

RTKangaMummy · 30/01/2006 19:33

Thanks, it seems to be in the playground

We have got a parents eveing next week but he wants it sorted quicker than that

But she is not very approcable and doesn't seem to like parents that much -- in fact she scares the living daylights out of me

{btw my family are all teachers and am married to one so am not having a go at teachers}

oh dear... i definitely think it's better to have a chat than send a letter, i think a letter looks too official.
tbh the children SHOULDN'T be tormenting him to try and get him to swear, and i think they need a bit closer supervision in the playground perhaps...

is there another teacher you could talk to? or the head???
that way you can tell ds that you have spoken to someone about it

RTKangaMummy · 30/01/2006 19:45

His teacher {class 6} got really annoyed when we spoke to the head when something happened before

saying "well I can't do anything about it if you don't tell me" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH we would tell you if you were more apprachable

His class 5 teacher last year understood very well but that would really make her angry.

The dinner ladies just say stay away from them when they follow him and tease him - he has tried to tell them - not about the swearing but if they hurt him or call him names -- so they are totally hopeless

Perhaps I will get DH to phone up and try to talk to her tomorrow

it is so hard cos I know swearing isn't really that serious but to him it is, iyswim

sounds like ignorance on behalf of the staff. There should be a senco who understands his condition and is able to explain to others. He is entitled to an education to meet his needs and staff who are trained to.

RTKangaMummy · 30/01/2006 22:10

The senco has left and now it has been passed from one teacher to another so no real senco iyswim

It is not really just the "swearing" vs DS "police" viewpoints

One of the boys seems to think that DS should be put in a headlock for not swearing

They also pick on him cos of his hypermobility means he can't run and so play football

If he tries to join in when they pick teams he is ALWAYS left 'til last cos no one wants him on their team cos he is so slow in running -- he sort of runs with a limp

Tbh it sounds like the staff may well be avoiding dealing with it as they dont know how to and it's easier not to. Not good enough.

RTKangaMummy · 30/01/2006 22:14

I do understand that he isn't as good as them in running or anything physical

And so can see that if you are picking a team in the playground picking the slowest child with a limp is not what you want when you are 11 years old but all he wants is for them to choose him before last place just once

I think that may be it hercules a sort of putting head in the sand and hope it goes away attitude
