I was watching CBBC earlier and catching up on Tracy Beaker (which I haven't seen since she had shortish hair) and there's a little girl in it with a disability. What with aspergers on Grange Hill and the DS child in that ad things may be slowly changing.....

I like "All About Me" which deals with CP and AS. I agree - there IS hope.

Hurrah! Hurrah! hope so DavrosSmile

jimjams- my HV came round today and was telling me all about Luke Jackson and saying how wonderful he is and what an inspiration he is to the AS/ASD population, honestly she couldnt shut up about him!-I just kept thinking about you. Told her about the prog on bbc2, she missed it but said if I knew anyone who had taped it she would like a copy to show in conferences aswell -ANYONE?Smile

coppertop · 20/11/2003 21:47

didn't mrsf have a copy?

fio2 · 20/11/2003 21:52

has she?

MRS F HAVE YOU A COPY?Smile

mrsforgetful · 22/11/2003 01:18

YES!YES!YES!
COPPERTOP! You remembered!!!! Guess what ....? I've had my hair cut and opened the sky film guide mag...and guess who i saw with a similar style....MEGGIE!!!!! OOOOH! getting spoooky!

Opps! off track again!

There's a few more SEN programmes on the tape with it now! (i'm building up quite a collection!) I've copied it a few times for mumsnetters..and would happily copy it hundreds of times more if others can get from it what i do every time i play it! The progs i have on the tape are as follows,,,
'My family and Autism' - starring the Jackson family
The Autism Puzzle (a bit negative-I picked that was good and ignored the bad when i watched it!)
Aspergers Syndrome:A different Mind- a BBCLearning Zone programme- the one JimJams told us about!! It's a BRILLIANT programme covering 4 boys...including LUKEXXXX showing them at home and in school-some with TA some unsupported-this would be great for anyone working with AS and gave me a real insight as to what it's like for AS kids at school.
and finally a programme featuring ADHD and Tourettes. This programme had me in tears. Again a BBClearning zone programme and is excellent!

My email address is :

[email protected]

If you mail me i'll give you my address so you can send me a tape and £1 for the return postage...or if you are happy to use 'PAYPAL' you can simply pay me £2 and i'll buy atape and post it to you within 3 days.

I love doing this- its no trouble- i do it when the boys are at school and i watch all the programees agin as it copies whilst i go about my housework- I LOVE the Jackson programme- Jaquie is such a strong 'role model' and there are bits of every programme which remind me of my two Aspies so I love the excuse to run the whole tape through!!!

The only bad bit is there is loss of quality when you copy....not helped by a naff vcr we had...so the Jackson program maybe wouldn't be quite good enough to broadcast at a conference....but excellent for home viewing!

mrsf - meg has obviously been doing her research for the role of mrsforgetful in our future blockbuster. I remembered that, despite the misleading name, you're always organised enough to remember when the programmes are on and usually have a tape ready. If I can get myself organised (dh is laughing) I'll e-mail you for a copy. My family have never heard of AS and think ds1 is just shy. Apparently if he was autistic he would be sitting in a corner rocking(!). Ds1 is just like all the other boys his age(!).

fio2 · 24/11/2003 08:20

will be in touch mrsfSmile

mrsforgetful · 25/11/2003 01:26

look forward to it!
P.S...i love watching tracey beaker....wonder if she needs a new role...in my film!

coppertop · 25/11/2003 08:14

mrsforgetful · 25/11/2003 14:02
