Experience of Lycra Dynamic Splinting?

Does anyone have any experiences of the UPSuit? My dd is being fitted for one soon (I hope ) as she's starting to try to sit and this may help? I'd be really interested to hear if it made a difference for anyone.

DS and DD1 have the lycra shorts, they hate them. but they are older and know what they like, whereas your dd1 is a bit younger (i think) so she will get used to them easier

My dd had a lycra suit which the physio said really helped(she wouldn't wear it at home) she has now outgrown it and is being fitted for something else. I think it really helped her to controll her movements

DS (Alex age 5) has shorts (to wear over his nappy) made in this material. To be honest I don't put him in them anymore as I don't feel they were making any difference anymore.. but for a year or so I would say they did the job to some degree. Alex was/is really wobbly around the pelvic region and the orthotist said that the shorts would help by making him more aware of 'where his bottom is' and help with balance etc.

Thanks everyone - it's good to hear that they've made some difference.

Sparkly you're right, my dd is only 1 so she won't get much choice in the matter poor love. I'm not looking forward to her wearing it over the summer months - very sweaty and itchy!

hi chonky,
am back home now so hope this helps.....
dd had a full body lycra suit with long sleeve arms and full length legs for about 9 months and the difference in her posture(and improvement)in her walking came on in leaps and bounds during that time, could it have been a coincidence? i'm not sure...anyway we had one dodgy suit that didn't fit dd really well and it really put a dampner on her enthusiasm to wear it(and mine for the battle to get it on!!)eventually the proffessionals agreed to dd's request for short sleeves and short legs and she is now a happy bunny again(although she does like saturday when we let her have a day off from wearing the suit-mainly because she goes for a swimming lesson in the morning and it is not reccommended to put them on after bathing BUT she thinks it's her BIG treat to have it off for one day).
i would definetly say give it a go but at the first sight of any marks or child complaining BELIEVE them as the professionals are not always correct.
good luck xx
ps: my dd is now 5.6 months and wears it at school- infact complained one day last week when she couldn't wear it(she had fell in the mud the night before and it wasn't fully dry when she was getting dressed)as she gets cold knees without it!!! can't win can i?
