I subscribe to "What do they know", and received an update today which made me laugh.
The requester had asked for specimens of application forms to ASD and SpLD resourced provisions, and been told none existed. In a follow up she said she had been told by one of the schools there was one, and this was the response.
"You are right that forms do exist for schools to complete in relation to
places in ASD and SpLD resourced provisions (units) and while in
operational terms the SEN Service regards these as referrals, it is
acknowledged that in both instances they are described in either the
title or the text of the forms as 'applications', so please accept our
apologies for the confusion.
Both forms are now, therefore, attached. Note that the ASD forms are
contained within the 'admissions criteria and procedures' section of the
document, pages 6-17, and the SpLD form is similarly on pages 14-16 of
that document."
