Has anyone seen this private member's bill? Identifies a friendly MP if nothing else!

"Summary
A Bill introduced by Penny Mordaunt MP to require the Secretary of State to increase parental involvement in the provision of education for children with special educational needs.

The Department for Education current policy enables parents of children with special educational needs to draw up a statement with their local education authority by which the parents' choice of school is respected. However, in practice many LEAs fail to adhere to these guarantees.

The Bill aims to legally establish children's right so that authorities can be held to account. It looks to reform the current system of LEA statements: notably a division of a child's assessment from LEA finances. The Bill also requests a commitment to per-pupil school funding.

The Bill is due to have its second reading on 2 December 2011."

Not seen it no. Thanks for posting. Nice to see there is someone somewhere on our side even if it is just one person.

I suggest that we all write to our own MP and ask them to support the Bill.

It was listed for second reading on Friday but I saw a note saying Parliament was not sitting then??

Anyway, I imagine it will be sat down given the work being done on and proposed changes to the education system already planned.

It would be good to get a copy/more detail.

I will email the MP.
